42nd Annual Swiss Wine Festival Underway

VEVAY – The cultural heritage of Switzerland County is front-and-center this weekend at the Swiss Wine Festival with food, music, arts, and of course, wine.

The four-day celebration, held on Vevay’s riverfront, is ranked a top 10 Indiana event by Top Events USA with entertainment for all ages and interests.

The 42nd annual festival features riverboat cruises, crafts and antiques, culinary delights, polka dancing, amusement rides and entertainment.

Grammy award-winning country band Diamond Rio takes the stage Friday and additional performances by other musical acts are scheduled through the weekend.

There are a couple travel advisories worth noting for those planning on attending the festival this weekend:

The Indiana Department of Transportation will close the intersection of State Roads 56 and 156 Saturday morning between 9:30-11:30 a.m. The closure is a due to the Swiss Wine Festival Parade that features nearly 90 floats, antique cars and marching units.

Make sure you make plans ahead of time if you have intentions of indulging in the wine and spirits. The Indiana State Police will conduct a sobriety check point at an undisclosed location in Switzerland County from midnight until 2:00 a.m. Sunday.

The exact location has not been released as police determine it based on crash and arrest data.
