Patricia  McCarty, 83,  of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014.

She was born Tuesday, February 25, 1930 in Langley, Kentucky, daughter of the late Wayne Hagans and the late Mae Allen Hagans.

Patricia was a member of Maytown Methodist Church in Maytown, KY. in her youth and faithfully attended Ebenezer Baptist Church as an adult.  She was a Beta Sigma Phi,  receiving the Order of the Rose, and was very dedicated to her sorority. She loved to work in her yard and flower gardens.  Patricia was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, and enjoyed watching Aurora  High School basketball games.  She loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed by them.

Surviving are children, Connie (Bill) Lakes of Aurora, IN, Vicki McCarty of Greendale, IN, Mark McCarty of Aurora, IN;  Siblings, Paul (Debbie) Hagans of Langley, KY, Sue (Smith) Kelley of Louisville, KY;  Grandchildren, Aimee Kellner and Krista Wall; Great-Grandchildren, Brayden and Avery Wall.  She is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert McCarty and his parents, Roger & Sadie McCarty; brother, Jack Hagans, sisters, Wayneoka Worley, Kay Bowen and Linda Thacker.

Friends will be received 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, Aurora, Indiana.

Services will be held at  1:00 PM, Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 16393 SR 148, Aurora, IN   47001, with  Pastor Tom Fehrman officiating.

Interment will follow in the Greendale Cemetery, Greendale Indiana.

The Metamora Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting their annual firemen’s festival at Gateway Park (across US 52 from Metamora) on Saturday, July 4. Parade starts at 6 pm at the park (route crosses US 52 and goes through Metamora). 3 pm food starts — pulled pork sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, ice cold drinks. Also included are kids’ games, pull tabs, bounce house, slides, tractor pull. Live music by Stagger Lee. Beer garden from 3 pm – 3 am. Fireworks at dusk at Gateway Park.

Come join the Metamora Volunteer Firemen and the Infamous Few Charity Riders for a day of riding and celebration. These men are all volunteers and need our support to keep their firehouse functioning and in good order so they too can help others when called upon! This ride will take us through scenic Franklin and Ripley Counties on a relaxing cruise through the countryside. Please plan on joining us for the entire day, as we will be having breakfast early and attending the Firemen’s Festival afterwards. Registration at the Hearthstone Restaurant: $20 per person / $25 per couple (10 am – 12 pm; breakfast available for purchase) Ride leaves at noon; ends a the firehouse and includes dinner with registration fee (all others are $8 per person)
