Wilma Elvera Meyer

Wilma Elvera Meyer, age 85 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Manderly Health Care in Osgood, IN.  The daughter of August and Arietta (nee: Kramer) Ahrens was born on April 28, 1931 in Batesville, IN.

Wilma graduated from Batesville High School in 1949.  She married Robert Meyer on April 29, 1950 at the Adams Lutheran Church in Batesville.  The Adams Lutheran Church member was a former Sunday School teacher, and sang in her church choir.  Wilma was the first woman on church council, a member of the Ladies Aid, Lutheran Church Women and the Happy Hearts Home Ec Club.

As a homemaker she always had certain days for everything, like Mondays for washing, Tuesdays for ironing, Fridays for grocery shopping. Her house was always neat, tidy, and clean. Her kids remember mom always sending them outside to play. She will also be remembered for her great cooking, especially her fried chicken and meat loaf. She loved spending time with her family. Her favorite pastimes were playing cards and working crossword puzzles. She had a deep love for her church and loved music, playing the piano at home often. She also loved attending sporting events of her grandchildren and was an avid Bengals fan attending many games. She also liked traveling with her husband which included all 50 states and even to Europe and Canada.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Bob, three daughters Karen Weisenbach (Mike), Kathy Wagner (Roger), Connie Coyle (Larry) and son Roger Meyer (Bonnie); along with 8 grandchildren, Matt & Mark Weisenbach, Justin & Joshua Wagner, Kari Rauch, Abby Hackman, Ryan & Ethan Meyer; 15 great grandchildren; plus her sister Gert Linville and brother Mervin Ahrens.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Betty Siebert and brother Ervin Ahrens.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 4-8pm at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN.  Funeral Services will be Friday, October 21, 2016 at 11:00am with a 1hr. visitation before all at Adams Lutheran Church.   Burial will follow in the Adams Lutheran Church Cemetery.
